Temple Church and Gardens 06.04.2007

We decided to start the Easter long weekend with a relaxing day staying in Bristol. We went for a walk around some more of Bristol and checked out the old Temple Church which we had been meaning to do for a while.

The Temple Church was founded around 1147, and was originally circular in plan, however this was replaced over the next two centuries to the present shaped structure. This Church has its very own leaning tower, and it was constructed as such, with it being 1.64m from vertical on the West face.

After being heavily restored in the 19th and 20th Centuries it was gutted by bombings during the Second World War in 1942. The church is not used now and all doors were locked up to reduce vandalism, and no doubt to reduce the number of homeless people using it for shelter.

You will also notice a lot more blue sky in the photos recently, even though the weather this time of your is traditionally around 10 to 15 degrees and raining. We are not complaining though, the weather had been great for the last few months and shows no sign of changing yet! Also below are a number of photos of the 'Floating Harbour' which passes through some of Bristol's City Centre.
